Just traveled by West Oakland Bart. The parking fee there is $5 per day, Monday-Friday, 4 am - 3 pm. Bart has a captive audience. It could institute dynamic pricing so that a few parking spots were always available at every station for those willing to pay. But if Bart did that, it should think about extending shuttle services or encouraging carpools to stations, so that many people would not be tempted to drive at all.

Only raising fares and not raising parking is ridiculous.

$1 a day parking is a joke-- BART has to pay good money on property taxes each year for all that pavement. I certainly don't want to pay for a sea of cars near a transit hub- why aren't these car drivers paying for it?
