As of tomorrow (I think) they'll be extending the weekend hours as well, until after 2am, to service the bar crowds. At other times the routes end sometime after 11pm, which kind of sucks. I'm usually surprised at how full the trains are, even at odd times. This is by far the best way to get to downtown Phoenix from the east valley.

I live in Phoenix i wish they were planning on putting it up to northwest
phoenix. And i don't mean Metro Center area, I mean Bell Rd. area. The only reason phoenix got its LRT is because when they presented the prop to vote on the proposition included improved highways and bus service as well as LRT.
They vwted against it in the late 80's. If they approved it we would have a
great system by now. We would probably be on our third or fourth extension by now and maybe have commuter rail service to Tucson and Flagstaff. Phoenix doesn't even have Amtrak going through it. You have to get on a shuttle bus to Tucson to get to Amtrak. Oh, well.

20 miles
28 stops
Average stop distance - .7 miles

thus far ridership has far exceeded initial projections -- with as many as 40,000 riders per day, compared to the expected 25,000.

AY stop consoldation haters SMB
