What a waste of time and money. This idea would eliminate around 12 parking spaces, set up extra areas for the homeless to hang out, take a look at the park at the end of columbus ave. Have we learned nothing. Let's put our time and energy into something more constructive, like the Palace/Pagoda palace.

I was out there on Saturday with a friend from out of town and we saw them setting up the park. I didn't see Armageddon come about because that one strip of street was being made into a temporary park. I suppose for some this is the biggest Threat to the Republic since WW2 or something, but I find that the hysterical cynics discredit themselves more and more when they go off on projects like this for no real reason.

Now I can cross Columbus safely with my kids since I know no traffic is coming from behind me on Mason.

Jason, good news – there are improvements in the works for Church and Duboce! Check it out: http://dubocetriangle.wordpress.com/2008/09/09/duboce-church-station-improvement-on-track/

... There are local artists/designers involved in that plan, too, I believe.

Vegetarian, but not really a road diet because The Mighty Throughput still rules the land. In other words since there was no big "threat" to cars moving around this was more acceptable. But certainly much, much better than nothing!

Seems that a direct assault on the God of Traffic Flow cannot be too far off.

How about doing this where it will truly improve life for thousands of daily transit users and hundreds of daily bicyclists - like at Church and Duboce? The N-Judah, J-Church, and 22-Fillmore converge here. The wiggle crosses Church here, and there are thousands of pedestrians between Market and Duboce along Church. Why can't the city experiment with that?

I was in San Diego this past weekend celebrating the big 1 year. However, I am sad I missed this and would have helped in a heart beat

But, it looks great and I can't wait to walk down there tonight after work.
