		<description>I wonder if the *really* hilly areas could be dealt with better by permanent street escalators and/or diagonal elevators (funiculars without drivers).  Forget stopping the bus every block, just make it easier for the people to move along the blocks.

This would be particularly suitable for areas where the street slope is steeper than 10%, which means that wheelchairs can barely negotiate the sidewalk at all.</description>

		<description>I see a lot of this controversy removed when we do what the TEP originally suggested- create more limited bus routes. This is a very cheap solution, it does not require expensive demographic studies and NO ONE, I mean no one will be opposed. Chances are the elderly and disabled have more time to take a local bus, and those who want a faster ride can walk a couple more blocks. With some revenue hour shuffling, MUNI could implement limited service on routes like the 1, simply by running a few diesels that can pass up the trolley buses during commute hours when the transit lanes are clear.</description>
