Of all the transit agencies in the Bay Area, SamTrans probably has the most room to raise fares. Fares are still only $1.50, even for a trip from San Bruno to Palo Alto which would cost $6.25 on Caltrain (sure, SamTrans is a whole lot slower, but it’s still way too cheap).

The most concerning part of the cuts are those to East Palo Alto, which is already very isolated and lacks good public transit. I think SamTrans is planning on cutting something like 4 of the 6 lines to EPA, which would be disastrous for what is probably the most transit-dependent city in San Mateo County besides Daly City.
