The section about Councilmember Brunner asking where each funding item would go is an important political lesson: the time to stop the OAC was probably at least a year or two back, not now. It also points up how ridiculous transit funding is in the U.S. when the money goes away if we don't use it for an approved project that, on closer inspection, isn't a great deal.
I'm glad there's so much discussion on here and so many local organizations weighing in on the Transbay Terminal, for one.

That is very sad. There are much better ways to create jobs than something as useless as this people mover. These politicians deserve to lose in the next election. I hope the opposition to the OAC succeeds.

Amazingly enough people were more irritated about a parking meter price increase than wasting 500M of our dollars for 3 miles and $12 round trip.

Very sad. The OAC is nearly the worst use of transportation funds one can come up with. It is no faster than the current profit-making bus system, will cost at least twice as much to ride and will consume half a billion dollars of valuable transit money. This project is actually more expensive per mile than BART to Warm Springs and will add no new riders when compared to the existing AirBART system.

On the good side, the MTC has actually managed to find and fund a project that is less cost effective than running BART to San Jose.
