Though I agree that extending meter hours and upping the residential parking sticker are both fair measures, they will in no way meet the SFMTA's current budget deficits. Further, they are simply insufficient to funding the expansion of transit in the City.

By concentrating on this emotionally-charged issue that pits drivers against bus riders you are actually doing a disservice to your fellow citizens. To expand transit or just make it run faster, cleaner, and more efficiently, you need many more millions a year. Take them from other programs, reform pension and benefits, reform the SFMTA, raise taxes and fees, but please, don't continue on this fool's errand of advocating extending metering hours as the salve for our wounds.

Typical of the Newsom-appointed MTA board and management. They are simply incapable of the job and need to all be removed. We need to start having the public have more direct say on who runs the MTA - this system as is is not producing a professional organization, it is producing one that is designed specifically to f*ck up Muni as much as possible.

Why the determination to let car drivers continue to benefit from subsidies? Just extend the darn meter hours already and end the free ride for storing private cars in public space on our streets. Poor people ride the bus, if you can afford to own a car in SF you are not poor and you can pay to park.
