This week, the Better Streets Plan comes before the Board of Supervisors, new East Bay cyclists get another chance to learn skills for commuting and a bike tour of San Francisco commemorates World AIDS Day. Here are the highlights from the Streetsblog calendar :
- Tuesday: The Board of Supervisors  will consider amendments to the Better Streets Plan to set higher standards for the pedestrian environment on San Francisco’s streets. Also on the agenda is consideration of the SFMTA’s Relocation Impact Study for the Central Subway Project. 2pm.
- Tuesday: The East Bay’s 1000 New Cyclists campaign continues its Mentor & Bike Buddy workshops , hooking up experienced cycling residents with newcomers looking for some wisdom on getting around the area by bike. 7pm.
- Sunday: The World AIDS Ride  tours the sites and neighborhoods of San Francisco that have held significance in the fight against AIDS over the past 30 years. The ride begins at McLaren Lodge in Golden Gate Park and will “pass through many areas and neighborhoods that have been touched or greatly affected by HIV/AIDS.” It ends with a ceremony at the National Aids Memorial Grove. 8am.
