This week, Joél Ramos is expected to be confirmed to the SFMTA Board, join the conversation on creating a better Market Street, see SPUR’s newest exhibit on adapting to climate change, discuss the controversial proposal for a bike speed limit on the Golden Gate Bridge, and test out the newest way to measure the pedestrian environment. Here are the highlights from the Streetsblog calendar: [1]
  • Tuesday: The SFMTA Board of Directors [2] will hear presentations on train speeds in the Twin Peaks tunnel, employee overtime, and a pilot program for an N-Judah express service bus. 1 pm.
  • Tuesday: The SF Board of Supervisors [3] is expected to finally confirm Joél Ramos as an SFMTA Board member, as well as discuss adopting a series of agreements for the contentious Treasure Island Redevelopment plan. 2 pm.
  • Tuesday and Thursday: Better Market Street Open House and Presentation [4]. The Better Market Street program is holding a series of public meetings and “webinars” to discuss how to turn the city’s most important thoroughfare into one of its most vibrant public spaces. The first meeting is at the Warfield on Tuesday at 6 pm followed by a webinar [5] on Thursday at noon.
  • Wednesday: SPUR Exhibit Opening Party: Adapt! Climate Change Hits Home [6]. SPUR celebrates opening its newest exhibit on how the city and the region can adapt to the inevitable impacts of climate change such as heat waves, drought, and sea level rise. 6 pm.
  • Thursday: Open House: Golden Gate Bridge Sidewalk Safety [7]. The Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District is holding two informational meetings to discuss the controversial proposal to set a speed limit for bikes on the bridge. 6 am and 3 pm.
  • Saturday: Auditing the Pedestrian Environment [8].
