Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is revolutionizing bus service around the world with its dedicated lanes, state-of-the-art buses, and frequent service.  Now, Bus Rapid Transit [3] is coming to Santa Clara County! VTA [4] is planning for BRT lines along the Alum Rock, El Camino, and Stevens Creek corridorsand you have an opportunity to help shape them.

What: Come see what this new service will mean for local businesses, pedestrians, cyclists, bus riders, and the people who live near the future Bus Rapid Transit stops in a free bus tour along El Camino Real.  The tour will feature a range of speakers (including me) and is hosted by VTA.

Afterwards, join me and other TransForm staff for lunch and a lively discussion about Bus Rapid Transit’s potential in the South Bay and elsewhere as we work to bring world-class public transportation to the Bay Area and all of California.  Light refreshments will be provided.

When: Saturday, October 22.  Bus tour runs promptly from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  The lunch discussion starts immediately after the tour.

Where: The tour will begin and end at the Palo Alto Transit Center [5]. The lunch discussion will be just a few blocks away at Coconuts Caribbean Restaurant & Bar [6].

How: Please RSVP online by Friday, October 7 [2].  An RSVP is required to save your spot on the bus.  The event is just $5, and free for TransForm supporters [7] at the $40+ level.
