Hayes Valley: Past, Present and Future

From Walk SF:

Join Walk San Francisco for an exploration of the colorful past, dynamic present and promising future of Hayes Valley, one of the City's most rapidly changing neighborhoods. A vibrant and early Victorian neighborhood, Hayes Valley later went into decades of decline, particularly with the construction of the Central Freeway in the 1950s. With its demolition, the adoption of the Market-Octavia Plan and the construction of Octavia Boulevard, the neighborhood rapidly revived, with restorations, renovations, new construction, and innovative interim uses of the spaces left by the freeway's footprint. With our tour guide Larry Cronander, we will view official San Francisco landmark buildings, the Hayes Valley Farm and much, much more. We will finish at a local pub on Hayes Street (if you wish). See you on February 12!
