    Re: Caltrain/T-Third connection

How long ago did they finish that line? Is foresight really that non-existent? I can’t wait for the backpedaling that will happen once [if] the Central Subway is completed.

The original plan was for it to connect.

At some point I heard a rumor that the connection was planned in, the. Caltrain autonomously moved the Bayshore station during the baby bullet work, such that the connection would not work anymore.

Interesting. That Bayshore station is major overkill (at least with the station’s current usage). Also, the stations are only about 500ft apart. Once that area is rebuilt, there could be a main pedestrian promenade between the two stations.

The reason that it didn’t serve Bayshore is because of the complex land situation in the area. Even without extending Muni, there ought be a pedestrian connection which previously existed.

The distance between Sunnydale and Bayshore is about 900 feet, which is less than the distance between 4th & King and AT&T Park and between San Jose Diridon and HP Pavilion. It is less than half of the current distance between Arleta and Bayshore.
