Lots of agency action on important items this week: SFCTA staff will present the selected design for the Van Ness BRT project; the SFMTA Board of Directors could approve major new debt to finance the construction of the Central Subway; the Board of Supervisors holds a public hearing on the parking-rich 8 Washington project; and city staff hold a meeting to revive safety improvements on Second Street.

Also, don’t miss the last two SFMTA workshops on the Transit Effectiveness Project improvements, including a final overview. When the work week wraps up, enjoy some sun at Sunday Streets in the Mission.

Here are all the highlights from the Streetsblog calendar ^[1]:

• Tuesday and Saturday: Muni Transit Effectiveness Project (TEP) Workshops ^[2]. The SFMTA holds its final two TEP workshops this week. The first, on Tuesday at 6 p.m., will focus on improvements for the downtown sections of the 14-Mission ^[3] and 30-Stockton ^[4] lines and will be held at the Bayanihan Center (1010 Mission at 6th St.). Then, on Saturday at 10 a.m., the SFMTA will overview the proposals for all eight routes at its final community meeting at the SFMTA Building (1 South Van Ness) on the 2nd floor.
• Also Tuesday: SFMTA Board of Directors Meeting ^[5]. The SFMTA Board could approve sizable new bonds to fill a funding gap for the construction of the Central Subway. The board is also expected to approve an all-door boarding policy for Muni and agreements for CMPC’s hospital developments. 1 p.m.
• More Tuesday: SF Board of Supervisors Meeting ^[6]. The board will hold a hearing on the 8 Washington project at the Embarcadero, providing what may be the last chance for opponents to speak out against excessive car parking at the transit-rich waterfront. 2 p.m.
• Still More Tuesday: Van Ness BRT Citizens’ Advisory Committee meeting ^[7]. Staff from the SF County Transportation Authority will present the selected design ^[8] for the Van Ness Bus Rapid Transit project, which would feature center-running lanes using a combination of two configurations. • Wednesday: Second Street Improvement Project Community Meeting ^[10]. Staff from the SFMTA and Department of Public Works will hold the first official meeting to revive the faltered plan ^[11] for streetscape improvements on Second Street between Market and King streets. 6 p.m.
• Friday: SF Bike Party: May the 4th be With You ^[12]. Merge your inner bike-geek and your inner Star Wars-geek (“May the 4th”… get it?) into one awesome nerdgasm. Liberate those limited-edition lightsabers from their dusty boxes and lead the Rebel forces to victory by bike in the streets of SF. 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday: Berkeley Blessing of the Bikes ^[13]. Whether you’re a believer or not, join Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates and East Bay Bike Coalition Executive Director Renee Rivera for Berkeley’s first-ever Blessing of the Bikes, an event originating in New York City ^[14], where interfaith clergy will actually bless your bike. Afterward, the EBBC will lead a Sustainable Solutions Family-Friendly Bike Tour of school gardens and local businesses. 11 a.m.
• Sunday: Sunday Streets: Mission ^[15]. Get out and enjoy the first of four Sunday Streets events in the Mission this year with dancing, music, kids activities, free bike rentals, and more along car-free Valencia and 24th Streets. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
