  • About the GG Bridge celebration this Sunday, both the SFGate and SF Examiner stories missed an important element:  On Sunday, all day, *all* Presidio Gates will be closed to private vehicles. The Marina Gate will be open to only pedestrians, bicycles and emergency vehicles.  (All the other gates will allow shuttles, buses and taxis as well.)

This is huge! This is different than “parking will be difficult.” Parking is always difficult, and people are always optimistic that they have a superior strategy, a hidden spot unknown to the masses, that they will be the ones to succeed.

Kudos to the Presidio for doing this but I don’t think there is enough info getting out to prevent many, many cars from getting to the gates and having to be turned away. (However, this is better than many, many cars choking the Presidio roads into horrible gridlock.)

Sure wish Muni were adding extra 43 buses as well. If you bike (I am!) be sure to bring a light for the return trip home after the fireworks.
