Mark Herbert, British planner and urbanist, has been observing the United States up close — from Motor City’s Eastside to the Big Easy’s Lower Ninth Ward. He returns to the Bay Area to compare and contrast the vast differences between American and British community engagement models, and provide some illuminating reflections on community engagement and grassroots activism across the UK.
