This one was not directly about the discussion, but about your general posting pattern. 90 uninformed comments is par for the course – that it is spread across different threads just goes to show that you are consistently wrong on a multitude of issues. You may think that I am tracking you. As far as I am concerned, I am looking to tackle bullshit and you happen to have the biggest heap wherever you contribute.

  • RichLL

Since you respond to every comment then you must also have made about 90 comments. And I cannot recall a single valid refutation in any of those 80.

I don’t mind if someone disagrees with me on a matter of opinion. But nobody appointed you as the forum cop, so you’re the only person here who is self-important enough to deem that an appropriate use of their time.

At this point you’ve long since deserted the topic and are seemingly just commenting to throw personal attacks around – typically the activity of someone who knows they are losing a debate

  • farazs

I couldn’t possibly dream of responding to every comment you make on every topic. For one, you do occasionally make a valid point, but the sheer volume of the rest is more than any one person can respond to.

  • murphstahoe

“I probably am more experienced at driving since many of them don’t drive or even can’t drive.”

Do you have any evidence to support this unsubstantiated claim? I am in a room with 7 cyclists right now. We all have a drivers license. My poll has standing unless you can come up with better evidence.

  • chetshome

    Template for RichLL thread commentary:

-Article about some attempt to make more liveable streets
-RichLL asserts that it won’t work or is wrong
-OtherCommenter asks for evidence for assertion
-RichLL ignores request and points out someother irrelevant thing that is either false or also an unsupported assertion
    -OtherCommenter points out illogic
    -RichLL demands evidence
-OtherCommenter cries foul saying RichLL was the one who didn’t provide evidence for an assertion
-RichLL says yes he did provide evidence
    -OtherCommenter quotes RichLL’s unsupported assertions
-RichLL says the thread is full of evidence that he has provided, such as his valid observations and previous statements
-OtherCommenter points out that those are not evidence, just RichLL’s opinions/anecdotes
-RichLL claims victory again because no one has ever refuted him and everyone always resorts to personal attacks against him
    -OtherCommenter gives up
-ManyOtherCommenters reduce participation with Blog because it’s so frustrating. So instead of engaging in constructive discussion, we wade through pages of inane RichLL Trumpian dissertations

  • RichLL

Anecdotes are not evidence. Here is a better question. What percentage of active regular cyclists drive on a daily basis? Supply your working assumptions and supporting data.

The logical presumption has to be that if someone commutes and maximizes their travel by bike then, by definition, they spend less time driving and are therefore less experienced at driving.

So are you a regular driver who is a week-end cyclist? Or are you a determined 24/7 cyclist who therefore inevitably drives less? You can’t have it both ways.

  • murphstahoe

You made the original assertion. I dispute your assertion, since it was made without evidence.

  • RichLL

The original statement is a near logical necessity, as explained above. So the burden of disproof is firmly on you and, by your reaction, you clearly do not have any.

That said, my presumption of relative inexperience on that thread was based on the rather naive statements made about driving by those known to ride bikes rather than drive.

  • RichLL

Is “Trump” the new “Hitler” for those who seek to diminish discussion through Godwidian fallacies?

  • murphstahoe

    RichLL is the new Trump

  • RichLL

Except that I don’t support Trump. You know if I was losing a debate I would not give that away be comparing my opponent to Trump, Hitler, Stalin, Dahmer or other Godwidian anti-hero.

Rather I would focus on improving my debating technique and my capacity for logical reasoning. Why not try that?
