    I saw the article about the Ford GoBike vandalism and fires–does anyone know whether it’s a concerted attempt to force them out of business or just the local morons proving that the Devil does indeed find work for idle hands to do?

    My vote is for the latter, they’re just an easy target for vandals to f-up. Like shattered bus shelter panels or graffiti on sidewalk bike racks.

    Realistically, I don’t see how these actions would actually stop bike-share. Probably slow down expansion though.

    And increase costs, which will be passed on to the user.

    Some of it certainly feels more like the former. Throwing paint on stations and hanging a bike from a tree seem much more like attempts to send a message than random vandalism.
