    When BART police are responding to an incident on a train the operator is supposed to leave the doors closed until police can respond. Obviously they screwed up in this case.

    I don’t know what it is about the Fremont/Warm Springs line but there has been some unhinged drug addict on the train 100% of the time that I have ridden it.

    I cannot speak for you but if there was some violence going down on a train or bus that I was on, I am pretty certain that I would like the option of leaving the scene rather than being caged in.

    I get the point that a lockdown would ensure the perp was caught, but you also have to consider the possibility of the risk to everyone else if they are compelled to remain in the zone of death.

    One time there was a fight on my Pittsburg/BP train. I got on the intercom and had the operator radio for BPD. The doors were open the whole time. Not sure what the door policy is for these kind of incidents. There’s also the emergency release at each door.
