Dates and Locations For 2010 San Francisco Sunday Streets Announced
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has announced the dates and locations for nine Sunday Streets events for 2010, starting on March 14th along the Embarcadero and finishing October 24th around Civic Center. Building off the tremendous success of the events in 2009, Mayor Newsom announced the events will expand to new communities and run for an extra hour, eventually becoming a permanent San Francisco tradition.

Eyes on the Street: Work on Clipper Street Bike Lane Starts
DPT crews have begun striping a new bike lane on Clipper Street between Douglass Street and Portola Drive. Streetsblog tipster Nick sent us these photos of the work, which is expected to take a week to complete, according to Damon Curtis of the MTA's bike program. Nick points out that many residents on Clipper Street support the bike lane, part of a traffic calming project in the Bike Plan.

Bicyclist Killed by Caltrans Vehicle Driver on 101 Overpass in San Mateo
A 68-year-old Palo Alto man riding his bicycle was struck and killed by the driver of a Caltrans vehicle heading westbound on the Hillsdale Boulevard overpass of Highway 101 in San Mateo this morning. The Caltrans employee was on duty at the time.

Another Court Decision in Favor of California Transit Agencies
In another rebuff to California's practice of moving spillover funding from the State Transit Assistance (STA) fund to fill the hole in the state's General Fund, a Superior Court ruled on Monday that the state had to pay back the approximately $1.2 billion it diverted from transit operators in the 2007-2008 budget cycle. The state has until April 1st to present the courts with its plan to restore the STA and replenish its reserves, though transit operators and their lobbying association hope negotiations and the blueprint for repayment come much sooner.

Driver Traveling at High Speed without Lights Seriously Injures Pedestrian
A driver traveling at a high speed without headlights on struck and seriously injured a pedestrian on Columbus near the intersection of Grant early this morning. The pedestrian, a 56-year-old male San Francisco resident, suffered life-threatening injuries and is still in the hospital, according to Sgt. Wilfred Williams, an SFPD spokesperson.
