Ed Reiskin, the head of the San Francisco Department of Public Works, has been chosen to oversee the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, Streetsblog has learned. The official announcement will be made at a 10am press conference tomorrow at SFMTA headquaters at 1 South Van Ness Avenue.

Bicyclist Critically Injured in Crash with Truck Driver in SoMa
A 25-year-old woman riding a bicycle was critically injured in a collision with a food delivery truck at the intersection of Mission and Fremont streets this morning. San Francisco police blamed the bicyclist because investigators determined she was making an illegal left turn onto Fremont, which is prohibited except for taxis and buses.

Powell Street Promenade Enlivens the ‘Heart of San Francisco’s Downtown’
San Francisco cut the ribbon on an innovative public space "in the heart of downtown" today that will greatly improve the pedestrian realm in the Union Square shopping district. Mayor Outlines SFMTA Chief Qualifications as List of Candidates Narrows
The future CEO and executive director of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) should be a visionary who can focus on implementing a labor agreement with transit operators, improve Muni reliability, make more taxis available, focus on pedestrian safety and expand bike facilities, Mayor Ed Lee told the Board of Supervisors yesterday.
