SFBC Monthly Good Roads Ride
"Help rescue Nob Hill, Chinatown and the Financial District from hazardous cracks and potholes -- all in one energetic, very bike-friendly morning. Join the Good Roads Crew as we spin through these iconic neighborhoods north of Market and south of Broadway. Our goal is to mark every pavement defect we see with spray paint and report them to 311. We usually average 50 potholes in just two hours. Following our heroic efforts, we’ll celebrate with lunch and drinks. First-timers always welcome; we’re a friendly group! Heavy rain cancels."

SFBC Volunteer Phone Banking
"Turn your gift of gab into bike improvements when you volunteer at the SFBC's Phone Banking Night. The SFBC's phone banking team has been very successful at helping members who have forgotten to renew. We call friendly members to let them know their membership has lapsed. (No cold calling!) It's that easy. Hang out with a fun bunch of cool cyclists and enjoy a tasty dinner on us. Email Cynthia at if you have questions or want to take part."

SPUR Lunchtime Forum: The future of open space
"The Bay Area leads the nation in open space preservation near its urban core. But the region sits next to the country's most threatened farmland and the urban sprawl of the San Joaquin Valley. Is the future of the open space movement in the Bay Area to look beyond the nine counties to address watershed and farmland preservation in the Delta and Central Valley, or is it to shift to new strategies that make our current preserved land more accessible? Join the discussion with two of the leading open space activists in the region – Jeremy Madsen, executive director of Greenbelt Alliance, and John Cain, director of restoration programs at the Natural Heritage Institute."
