SFBC Monthly Good Roads Ride – Smooth Ride edition
"Join us for a slightly different Good Roads ride in December - we're calling it the "Smooth Ride". We'll take a look at some of the freshest pavement all over the City - with many spots the result of direct volunteer efforts and SFBC advocacy. We'll still carry some spray chalk in case we find some pesky crumbling pavement to circle and report to 311, but we will focus on having fun, and surveying the smoothest roads in 2009. As always, we’ll end the ride with drinks and lunch."

Station captains will now regularly present Muni crime statistics for their districts at Comstat meetings, where they will be grilled on why crime has increased or decreased.

Eyes on the Street: Is this Our Stop? Signage Shortcomings on Muni Metro
Anyone who's given a friend from out of town directions on riding Muni knows it can be tricky to describe just where they need to get off to reach their destination. Fortunately, buses now automatically announce upcoming stops and display them on screens at the front of vehicles, and light rail vehicles announce upcoming stations when they're running in the Market Street tunnel.

Take Two Peaks and Call Me in the Morning!
With the rain falling in late November, and soggy unemployment statistics haunting our lives too, the idea of Depression lurks just below the surface. Depression has multiple meanings like so many concepts in the English language; in this case, I’m taking two of them: 1) mental depression that results from bad weather, personal trauma, emotional turbulence, etc., and 2) economic depression. I have a good coping mechanism for both kinds! It’s to take our local K2, i.e. Twin Peaks, by bike!
