"Interested in reading bike and transportation books and engaging in robust discussions with other friendly folks? We will be discussing our recent picks: Traffic: Why We Drive the Way We Do by Tom Vanderbilt, and two optional books: Calvin Trillian's Tepper Isn't Going Out and David Byrnes' Bicycle Diaries. If you didn't make the first meeting, it's not too late to join the the conversation in person and online at www.sfbike.org/books. We'll also be choosing the next book(s) to read, so bring your ideas."

SFBC Rec Ride: Birding by Bike
"Join SF Bicycle Coalition members David & Annie Armstrong on a
half-day biking tour of the Presidio and Fort Mason. David has been
leading birding trips for the Audubon Society for 10 years in SF. Visit
various hotspots such as Mountain Lake, Crissy Lagoon, and others in
search of resident, migrant and newly arrived breeding species. The
biking will be at a relaxed pace but the birding may be fast and
furious!"

SFBC Healthy Saturdays Kick-Off Picnic
"Join the SF Bicycle Coalition staff & members--park fans--for a
casual picnic and kid-friendly event in Golden Gate Park to kick-off six
months of Healthy Saturdays. We'll be celebrating car-free space with
Freedom from Training Wheels for the kids and good ol' lounging and
chatting with SF Bicycle Coalition members. A great
chance to meet SF Bicycle Coalition Staff and oodles of members. Hope

SFBC Urban Cycling Workshop: Intro to Safe Cycling (Day 1)
"This four-hour in-classroom, introductory course is perfect for new
cyclists and those want to feel more comfortable riding on city streets.
Class will cover the basics for how to choose the right bike and
properly fit a helmet. Learn tips for the safest ways to ride in
traffic, techniques to avoid or deal with road hazards and emergency
maneuvers along with other useful gems of knowledge, like the best way
to lock up your bike and how to use a bike in combination with public
transit, and cyclists' legal rights and responsibilities.
