SFBC Urban Cycling Workshop: Intro to Safe Cycling For Self-identified Women Only (Day 1)
"In the spirit of empowering female riders and International Women's Month, the SFBC is proud to offer this full bike education course for self-identified women only, taught by a female instructor. This four-hour in-classroom, introductory course is perfect for new cyclists and those want to feel more comfortable riding on city streets. Class will cover the basics for how to choose the right bike and properly fit a helmet. Learn tips for the safest ways to ride in traffic, techniques to avoid or deal with road hazards and emergency maneuvers along with other useful gems of knowledge, like the best way to lock up your bike and how to use a bike in combination with public transit, and cyclists' legal rights and responsibilities.

SFBC Rec Ride: Family Golden Gate Bridge to Ft. Baker Ride
"Join SF Bicycle Coalition member Tim Hurley on a family ride traversing Marina Green and Chrissy Field, then through the Presidio to the Golden Gate Bridge. Once across the Bridge, it's a curving coast down to Ft. Baker. The return trip follows the same course, so those who wish to visit the Discovery Museum can separate from the group and return on their own. Walking bikes up the hills is encouraged! Due to distance and hills, this ride is recommended for kids on 16" bikes and above, and not recommended for training wheels."

"We'll watch the excellent documentary "Taken for a Ride", which tells the heartbreaking story of how public transportation was systematically dismantled in the mid-1900's. (Warning: you may cry when you see streetcars being torched.)Then we'll lighten things up with some hilarious clips from the 1950's promoting the suburbs and imagining life "in the future".
