New Ingleside Captain Gets Tough on Drivers Failing to Yield to Peds
The Ingleside Police Station has a new captain and he's out of the blocks with a very progressive pedestrian safety agenda. Captain David Lazar, who just assumed his post at the Ingleside Station on April 18th, will conduct a sting on motorists who fail to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks at five locations today from 2:30-8:00 pm.

One of the good things about Mayor Gavin Newsom's obsession with putting public discourse online is the opportunity the public has to ask him a lot of questions. Packed Mission Sunday Streets Raises the Question, “Why Not Every Week?”
Massive crowds came out to the Mission yesterday to enjoy the first of two Sunday Streets events, packing Valencia Street and 24th Street with families, dog walkers, and cyclists of all ages and abilities. Organizers were thrilled with the turnout and seemed only to worry how they would get everyone off the streets at 2 pm, the scheduled closing time.

MTC Deputy Director McMillan Named to #2 Post at FTA
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) today named Therese W. McMillan as its Deputy Administrator, the number two job at FTA. McMillan, who has been a member of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) staff since 1984 and has served as the Commission’s Deputy Executive Director for Policy since 2001, will assume her new post in Washington, D.C., on June 30.

Last week, BART hosted a brunch meeting for Bay Area transit bloggers, explicitly acknowledging that journalism is trending away from traditional media to online and niche outlets. Organized by BART spokesperson Linton Johnson, writers from Streetsblog, The SF Appeal, The Overhead Wire, N-Judah Chronicles, and Transbay Blog had the opportunity to ask BART General Manager Dorothy Dugger and her team unvarnished questions, to which we received fairly straightforward answers.
