Safety Improvements for Eastern Cesar Chavez Face Key Decision on Friday
Safety enhancements for Eastern Cesar Chavez Street are coming together after staff from the SFMTA and the SF Planning Department presented project plans at an open house last week. The near-term improvements include buffered bike lanes with soft-hit posts, while the long-term vision would add a two-way protected bikeway and wider sidewalks.

First Signs of Construction Appear on the JFK Drive Bikeway
After repeated delays and some intermittent rain, the SFMTA has apparently begun construction of the city's first parking-protected bikeway on John F. Kennedy Drive in Golden Gate Park. The center lane striping appeared mostly grinded off on the western section of the road yesterday from Transverse Drive just past Stow Lake Drive. Construction equipment also sat at a spot where some digging had begun, possibly for drain work or curb ramps. The SFMTA has said it should be finished in March, weather permitting.

Caltrain’s Warm Planet Bike Station in Jeopardy
Warm Planet Bikes has provided more and more Caltrain commuters a secure place to park their bikes at the Fourth and King Street Station in downtown San Francisco in recent years. But the shop could soon shut down without continued support from the public transportation agencies it relies on. Though Caltrain is developing an agreement to support the shop, it may not come until it's too late.

SFMTA Delays Fell and Oak Bikeways to Spring 2013 to Create More Parking
