SPUR Walking Tour: Beyond the bazaars: Exploring Chinatown’s alleyways

From SPUR:

The Chinatown Alleyway Master Plan, authored in 1980 by the Chinatown Community Development Center, originated from decades of community effort to improve Chinatown’s alleyways. Working with grassroots groups such as the Chinatown Alleyway Improvement Association and the Committee for Better Park and Recreation in Chinatown, the master plan increased much needed open space within Chinatown. In 1994, the coalition secured $2.3 million to renovate 31 of Chinatown’s alleyways. CCDC also launched a youth program to educate residents and tourists alike about the cultural history and significance of Chinatown’s alleyways. Join us for a special SPUR tour with Jessica Kyo, a tour leader with CCDC’s Adopt-an-Alleyway Youth Project.
