Ride with the Dutch on Queen’s Day 2011

From the Consulate General of the Netherlands:
Union Square Turns Orange for Queen’s Day
April 30, 2011

On April 30th each year, the Dutch gather to celebrate the birthday of the Queen of the Netherlands. Why not celebrate this year by dressing up in orange and riding a bike through the city of San Francisco? Come along on one of two orange-themed bike tours, where you can join the Dutch in their celebration of Queen’s Day.

Green Bike Ride The first tour is a one-way ride, starting at the Dutch windmill at the Queen Wilhelmina Park. Enjoy a guided tour through Golden Gate Park and Presidio Park and along the San Francisco waterfront. The tour begins at 10:00 am and finishes around noon on Union Square. Bring your own bike, arrive early for some coffee and join the bike-decorating party starting at 9:00 am. This ride is appropriate for ages 12 and up. Register Now

Dutch Design Bike Tour Discover Dutch Design in San Francisco the Dutch way – by bike! We will be making stops at retailers throughout the city where you can find Dutch Design items. The tour begins at My Dutch Bike (Market Street) at 10:00 am, and returns at My Dutch Bike around noon. Arrive early, as the tour will leave at 10:00 sharp! If you don’t have a bike, no problem – You can rent a bike for a special price at My Dutch Bike (for the Dutch Design tour only). The Dutch Design Bike Tour is limited to 30 participants on a first come, first served base. Register Now

The bike tours are free, but registration is required. Reserve your spot before April 25th, and don’t forget to wearorange!

The square will be filled with all things Dutch, including orange tulips, Dutch food, a flea market, Dutch games for children and families, a classical music concert, music by a live band with Dutch popular songs, a beer garden, and much more. All of San Francisco is invited to join in the celebration!

If there isn't money to make a project safe for everyone, regardless of how they get around, then there isn't enough money to build it. Period.
