Bicyclist pulls knife on motorist in SF: http://kron4.com/2016/07/29/video-san-francisco-driver-says-bicyclist-pulled-out-knife-and-stabbed-her-car-tire/

… proving once again that any large demographic contains a few sociopaths. But that won’t stop some people from painting all bicyclists with the same brush.

If he gets caught he’ll probably just get probation like Hespelt and Bucchere. Apparently even felony assault and felony manslaughter won’t get you time as long as you take the prudent precaution of getting on a bike before you cause deliberate malicious harm.

  • murphstahoe

    Dude pulled a knife – that’s a long haul from a u-lock.

  • RichLL

He didn’t just pull the knife – he used it on the vehicle, specifically the tire. And the woman driver (it seems cyclists only assault women) was terrified. So I’d expect similar charges, and then a light sentence of course.

There was a guy here a while ago saying that he’d use a knife on a car tire in certain situations. The cops should track him down and have a word with him

    You misspelled “car” there.

  • RichLL

No, I gave specific examples there. Plenty of drivers have served time – I challenge you to name one cyclist who has.

  • Flatlander

You’re assuming that there are meaningful numbers of bicyclists who injure and kill people. And there’s not.

  • RichLL

Sorry, if it wasn’t obvious I meant in this country and, preferably, within say 1,000 miles

  • RichLL

How “meaningful” someone’s death is is a matter for the family of the deceased and not how “meaningful” it is for a self-serving apologist for the killer

  • murphstahoe
  • My anecdote is DATA!

  • murphstahoe

    no comment?

  • RichLL

And as soon as you provide some data, we will surely consider it. As long as it isn’t, say, self-serving and cherry-picked.

  • RichLL

Ah, good one. It seems that the key is causing actual bodily rather than just smashing someone’s car and terrifying the driver.

Of course Bucchere actually killed someone but that was an “accident”, right?

  • My DATA is MEANINGFUL!
