    Development and infrastructure (smart development, not sprawl) haven’t kept up with population growth. However, a big chunk of the younger generation realizes it cannot afford to live in the area and is looking elsewhere. Companies will realize this and follow the workforce and talent. Most likely not the large manufacturing companies, for obvious reasons (for the few major manufacturers left), but the white collar jobs will be moving (maybe keep a token HQ in the area just to say its HQ is in the Bay Area) because companies would rather pay a lower salary in other parts of the country. Hey, as long as the work gets done and employees can make a living…why not.
