On Bike to Work Day, Electeds Unite in Support of Future Bikeways
In the strongest showing of political support ever for bicycling in San Francisco, Mayor Ed Lee, ten of the eleven members of the Board of Supervisors, and a range of city officials pedaled to City Hall with advocates and thousands of commuters on the 17th Annual Bike to Work Day. Commuters pedaling along the city's most important route, Market Street, were greeted with new green paint and protected bike lanes thanks to SFMTA crews who have been racing to fill in the gaps.

Golden Gate Park JFK Bikeway Project Delayed Until December 2011
The expected construction of a physically-separated bikeway along a stretch of John F. Kennedy (JFK) Drive in Golden Gate Park will now come no sooner than December, according to a report from the San Francisco County Transportation Authority (SFCTA).

Cameron Beach likes to mention that he started his career in public transportation forty six years ago sweeping buses. The 62-year-old semi-retired transportation consultant and former chief operating officer of the Sacramento Regional Transit District does know a lot about running a transit system.

Brinkman Pushes SFMTA Staff To Install Fell Street Protected Bike Lane
The SFMTA Board of Directors today issued a directive to staff to move on installing a trial curbside protected bike lane on Fell Street between Scott and Baker Streets. SFMTA Director Cheryl Brinkman raised the issue at today's board meeting, pointing out Mayor Ed Lee's comments to Streetsblog last week that he would like to see a physically-separated bikeway on Fell Street happen "quickly."

JFK Drive Bikeway Promises Pleasant Travel in Golden Gate Park
As early as this spring, residents and tourists could be enjoying a world-class bi-directional, physically-separated bikeway along a 1.5 -mile stretch of Golden Gate Park's John F. Kennedy (JFK) Drive as part of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition's (SFBC) Connecting the City campaign for a network of routes safe and comfortable enough for an eight or eighty-year-old.
