Distracted (Drunk and Unlicensed) Motorist (on Probation) Kills Cyclist in Watsonville, (Flees Scene)

  • Todd

“Cervante was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on suspicion of DUI, probation violation, vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, hit-and-run resulting in death or injury and driving on a suspended license for drunken driving”

That’s a full house. But will she get more time than the 10 years the Richmond guy may get for dodging a BART fare while packing an illegal Croatian-made handgun?

Apparently yesterday was doozy day in the Bay Area.

    It’s Fremont.

  • Corvus Corax

In a way I was almost disappointed that there was no comments section for this article: it could’ve been interesting to see how the hoard of morons who live to descend on these kinds of reports like flies on shit managed to put the blame on the cyclist.

  • Christopher Childs

8:40pm on a country road with a 40mph speed limit that probably regularly sees 50mph+. Would be easy to see how that discussion plays out, as though we’re just supposed to accept dangerously bad drivers and unsafe roads.

Clearly the cyclist should have exercised some personal responsibility, right?! Sarcasm, of course…

  • Corvus Corax

    And there we go.

  • Corvus Corax

OK, got it now. Agreed! If you’ll edit your comment to make that clearer, I’ll remove my response.

This guy always spells it wrong

  • Corvus Corax

I think it might be the city’s misspelling: isn’t it named after John C Frémont? (Only sorta kidding)
