The Death of Redevelopment

From SPUR:

On December 20, the California Supreme Court upheld the legislature’s elimination of redevelopment. Redevelopment has had a complicated history in the State of California. While redevelopment has enabled the construction of affordable housing, infrastructure and public amenities it has also been used to fund less worthy projects. What does the death of redevelopment mean for urban development in the Bay Area? How will major projects such as the Hunter’s Point Shipyard, the Transit Center District and Mission Bay fare as redevelopment is dismantled? Come and hear a lively discussion with leaders from San Francisco and Oakland. Our speakers include Fred Blackwell, the Assistant City Administrator for the City of Oakland and Tiffany Bohee, the Executive Director of the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency.
