Touring Transbay

From SPUR

The Transbay Transit Center Project, the first phase of which is scheduled to be completed in 2017, will create a new 1-million-square-foot transit center with above-grade bus routing, retail uses and underground levels to serve both Caltrain and high-speed rail, all topped by 5.4-acre park. Accompanying towers are also planned to add housing, office and shopping around the transit center. Join us for a tour of the project site and envision the future of this neighborhood-building project.

This event is generously sponsored by Kaiser Permanente.

Will Caltrans Get On Board With a Contraflow Bus Lane on the Bay Bridge?

|
The proposal to improve transbay transit with a contraflow bus lane on the Bay Bridge is gaining traction, as the SF Chronicle reported yesterday. The idea has been pushed by proponents at SPUR, AC Transit, and some BART board members for years as a relatively quick and inexpensive solution to move more people between SF and the East Bay. Guest Editorial: An Open Letter to Mayor Ed Lee About Transbay

Dear Mr. Mayor: Thanks for the world’s most expensive bus stop. Last week your administration announced a plan to connect Caltrain and California High Speed Rail to the Transbay Transit Center and remove I-280. It’s exactly the sort of bold thinking that people want from their mayor. It would “open up land for housing, connect […]
