This Week: Regional Solutions to Housing, Public-Private Partnership, Managing Megaprojects

Here are this week’s highlights from the Streetsblog calendar:

    • Tuesday What Should the Region Be Doing About Housing? Many argue that the Bay Area housing crisis requires a regional vision and solutions. What is the role of regional government on housing? How can jurisdictions better collaborate across boundaries? Come tackle these thorny questions with SPUR's panel. Tuesday, May 16, 12:30 p.m., SPUR San Jose, 76 South First Street, San Jose.
    • Tuesday What PPPs Can do for Transportation. Private companies and public entities often work together to fund, construct and/or manage large civic construction projects, but what happens when they join forces on transportation? Join SPUR as they explore the role of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in providing mobility options for urban dwellers. Hear from both large companies and small startups--as well as the policymakers guiding the processes--about how this collaboration works. Tuesday, May 16, 6 p.m., SPUR Urban Center, 654 Mission Street, S.F.
    • Wednesday Managing Megaprojects. The Bay Bridge. The Big Dig. Some transportation projects are surrounded by so much financial and political furor that their names have become synonymous for complications, drama and public debate. Can we do a better job of managing megaprojects? Join SPUR for a discussion about what it will take to restore the public’s trust in our ability to build big things. Wednesday, May 17, 12:30 p.m., SPUR Urban Center, 654 Mission Street, S.F.
