Interactive workshop sponsored by the San Francisco Department of Public Health, Program on Health Equity and Sustainability on Auditing the Pedestrian Environment.
DPH is rolling out a revised and enhanced version of the Pedestrian Environmental Quality Index (PEQI), a comprehensive observational tool with over 30 intersection and street segment indicators that reflect the quality of the built environment for pedestrians.
The workshop will consist of two parts: in the morning, participants will learn about the history of the PEQI, how it was developed, and how to use it to score streets and intersections. We will spend the afternoon using the PEQI to collect data about the pedestrian environment in San Francisco.
The data will be used to test the reliability of the new tool when used by diverse community stakeholders to evaluate pedestrian quality.
