    I wish we could get straight answers out of BART about the escalator crisis. None of the usual sensational reasons why the escalators don’t work — weather, hobo piss — can explain the decrepit state of platform escalators indoors and behind fare gates. Those things also cannot explain the problems with new escalators at Warm Springs, which are all indoors.
