SFMTA Board Backs Full Bike Strategy Build-Out, Though Funding Still Missing
The SFMTA Board of Directors voiced strong support yesterday for pursuing the most ambitious vision laid out in the agency's draft Bicycle Strategy, which calls for a system of safe, comfortable bikeways that could elevate the level of cycling in San Francisco to levels seen in cities like Copenhagen and Amsterdam. Where the funding to implement that vision will come from, however, remains to be seen.

Wiener’s Proposals to Streamline Ped Safety Upgrades Pass Supes Committee
A package of legislation aimed at cutting through the bureaucratic red tape that encumbers the city’s progress on life-saving pedestrian safety measures was unanimously approved by the Board of Supervisors Land Use and Economic Development Committee yesterday. The full board is expected to approve the proposals in the coming weeks.

Meet Bay Area Bike Share
Update 4:53 p.m.: The SFMTA just launched a bike-share station crowdsourcing map (using, we should note, a tool from OpenPlans, Streetsblog's parent organization). The agency wants "people’s comments on where they would like to see Bay Area Bike Share stations as well as what they think of the initial 35 station locations," said spokesperson Ben Jose.
