SF Transit Riders hears from the six candidates for BART Board District 8, San Francisco

The San Francisco Planning Department will be presenting the San Francisco Board of Supervisors with updated plans for getting trains from the Caltrain corridor into the lower level of the Transbay Transit Center.

The San Francisco County Transportation Authority (CTA) Board authorized $5.5 million in Prop K funds for the downtown extension rail tunnel (DTX) project that will one day connect Caltrain's mainline to the Transbay Terminal.

One errant motorist crashed into a telephone pole and paralyzed the Bay Area this morning at 8:30, right in time for peak rush hour crowds.

Dear Mr. Mayor:

The new Transbay Transit Center (TTC) is scheduled for completion in 2017. The foundation of the TTC, and the thing that makes it such an improvement over the old Transbay bus terminal it's replacing, is its underground train station for Caltrain and High Speed Rail. It will bring Caltrain, the connection between San Francisco and Silicon Valley, into close proximity with five Muni and four BART lines and over 40 bus connections, not to mention San Francisco's huge downtown employment center. The TTC should one day be the most important transit hub outside of New York City—a Grand Central Station of the West.
